About this project
What this is
Russia Is a Terrorist State is an independent, non-commercial documentation project about Russian war crimes and attacks against Ukraine and its civilians. It collects individual events, links each one to its sources, and makes them searchable.
The project is not affiliated with any government, party or company.
Methodology
Every report is based on published sources: UN investigators, international courts and organisations, Ukrainian authorities, human rights organisations and established media. Where possible, each report cites several independent sources.
Wording follows the sources. Where independent verification is incomplete, the text says so ("reported", "according to"). Legal terms such as "war crime" or "crime against humanity" are only used when a court, the International Criminal Court or a UN body has used them, and are attributed to that body. Categories are discovery aids, not legal findings.
Casualty figures are always shown with their source and date. UN-verified figures are minimums. The real numbers are higher.
Reports are updated and visibly corrected when new information emerges.
Images and videos
This site shows real photos and videos of these crimes without censorship, because their brutality is part of the record. Images of survivors of sexual violence are never published.
Every image and video is credited with its author or publisher and links to the original source. Some material belongs to third parties and is shown for documentation. If you hold the rights to anything here and want it removed, write to russiaterror@proton.me and we will take it down.
Privacy
This site does not use analytics, cookies, advertising or third-party scripts. Videos from X or Telegram only load when you click them, and only then does that platform receive data from your browser.
Our hosting provider processes technical connection data (such as IP addresses) to deliver the site and protect it from attacks. Links to sources and share buttons lead to third-party websites whose own privacy policies apply.
